Tank Remount Services for Canadian Fleets

Dependable Truck & Tank provides professional tank remount services for fleets transferring a tank from an aging or damaged chassis onto a replacement truck. A structurally sound tank shouldn’t be scrapped just because the chassis underneath it has reached the end of its service life, and our remount service gets it back on the road properly secured and compliant.

Giving a Good Tank a Second Chassis

A tank remount transfers an existing tank body from its original chassis onto a different or replacement truck, using a newly engineered subframe suited to the new chassis. Fleets across Canada choose to remount rather than replace when the tank itself still passes inspection and has years of service life left, even if the chassis it was built on doesn’t.

Whether your tank is coming off a written-off truck or you’re simply upgrading to a newer chassis, Dependable Truck & Tank engineers the remount around your tank’s dimensions, weight, and the new truck’s specifications.

What's Involved in a Tank Remount

Every remount job depends on the tank and the chassis it’s moving to, so we scope each one individually.

Engineered for Proper Fit and Compliance

A remount isn’t just unbolting a tank and bolting it down again. Every remount we perform accounts for the weight distribution, axle ratings, and structural differences between the old chassis and the new one, so the finished unit meets provincial weight and safety requirements.

Our process includes custom subframe fabrication sized to the new chassis, torque-specified mounting hardware, a full weight distribution check, and B620 inspection readiness once the tank is secured. We won’t remount a tank that fails structural inspection, since a remount is only worth doing on a tank that has real service life left.

When Fleets Choose to Remount

A remount makes sense in a range of situations fleets run into regularly.

What We Check Before and After Every Remount

A remount is only as good as the inspection behind it. Our process includes:
We won’t sign off on a remount until the finished unit meets the same standard as a new build.

How a Remount Job Moves Through Our Shop

Remounting a tank takes coordination between removal, fabrication, and reinstallation. Our process:

Inspect & Plan

We assess the tank's structural condition and the new chassis specifications to plan the subframe design.

Remove & Remount

Our team removes the tank from the old chassis and mounts it onto the new one with a custom-fabricated subframe.

Inspect & Certify

We complete a full inspection, recalibrate as needed, and prepare the unit for B620 certification.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a tank remount?
A tank remount is the process of transferring an existing tank from one chassis onto another, typically a replacement truck, using a newly engineered subframe.
If your tank passes structural inspection and still has service life left, remounting is more cost-effective than fabricating a new unit.
Yes. We re-engineer the subframe and mounting points to fit whatever chassis your tank is moving to, regardless of brand.
Yes. We recheck and recalibrate volume readings after every remount, since positioning can shift slightly during the transfer.
Not without repair first. We inspect every tank before remounting and won’t proceed on a unit that fails structural inspection.
Yes. We transfer and reinstall compatible pumps, reels, and equipment from the original chassis as part of the remount job.
